For Khara Bath
1 cup rava (sooji / semolina)
2 tbsp ghee
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small tomato, chopped
2 green chilies, sliced
1 tsp grated ginger
1 small carrot, diced
2 tbsp peas
2 cups hot water
Salt to taste
Spices
tsp sambar powder
ΒΌ tsp turmeric
For Tempering
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp chana dal
1 sprig curry leaves
Roast the Rava β Dry roast rava until aromatic and lightly golden; set aside.
Prepare Tempering β Heat ghee; add mustard seeds, urad dal, chana dal, and curry leaves.
SautΓ© Aromatics β Add chilies, ginger, and onions. Cook until soft.
Add Vegetables β Mix in tomatoes, carrots, peas, turmeric, and sambar powder. SautΓ© well.
Pour Hot Water β Add water and salt. Bring to a rolling boil.
Add Rava β Lower heat and sprinkle roasted rava slowly while stirring constantly.
Steam & Serve β Cover for 2β3 minutes until soft, fluffy, and glossy with ghee.
Serve with Rava Kesari for the famous Karnataka βChow Chow Bath.β Pair with coconut chutney, curd, or a drizzle of ghee.
